Translator needed for Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche, May - October 2009
We seek an experienced translator for Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Losang Jampa (Sera Mey monastery) from May - October 2009.
Duties:
- translating for Rinpoche during weekly classes and special events including retreats and empowerments;
- translating during private meetings;
- some text translation work and transcript editing.
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate is a practicing Buddhist in the Tibetan tradition, with a devotion for Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and strong familiarity with the work and values of the FPMT.
- Depth and breadth of knowledge of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, practice, and tradition. Specialized knowledge of the Gelug school is preferred.
- Graduate of am established translator training program, relevant college degree or equivalent preferred. Minimum 2 - 3 years experience.
- Good with people, flexible, team player, shares our commitment to making the Dharma available to our local community
- Not a Shugden practitioner
Compensation:
Stipend, transportation, room & board provided. U.S. citizen / green card holder preferred.
The pay will be commensurate with the qualifications of the applicant but reflective of the standard pay within the FPMT organization.
While we would prefer to have someone translate for Rinpoche for the entire five month period, a shorter duration is also an option.
